Coming with another pair of V’s, this time with more of a patriotic flair since July 4th is just around the corner. These Asics Gel Lyte V Navy definitely fit the bill with respect to honoring our independence via footwear.
These were honestly kind of an impulse buy as I caught a good steal off of eBay and had to snatch up a pair. Now that I have them in hand, I’m glad I added them to the collection. I’m really digging this colorway and of course the look of these runners! I gotta say, the toebox shape on Gel Lyte V’s almost never disappoints!
How are the materials?
The materials are not bad. Suede around the toebox is soft and the 3M on the Asics logo stripes definitely set the shoe off. My only issue with these is they “feel” odd. It’s tough to explain, but the materials feel thinner to me. I’m not sure if I’m just totally losing it or if something is off with this particular pair of V’s. It might be because other pairs of V’s I’ve sported have been heavier due to the materials used which in turn makes these feel a lot less substantial. That might be a good thing regarding comfort though.
How do they fit?
The Asics Gel Lyte V Navy fit true to size and feel awesome. The lightweight construction I kind of complained about earlier actually worked out in my favor seeing as these are indeed not that heavy on foot. The mesh/suede combo is tough to beat on comfort, especially around the toebox as it yields plenty of give. Definitely pick these up if you want something very “USA” to wear this summer while also feeling super comfortable and maintaining that pointy toe runner aesthetic.
